Matt

Throughout The Awakening and The Struggle, it is pretty remarkable how well Matt is able to stay away from being the jealous ex-BF type around Elena.  In fact, he actually goes out of his way at times to help the love of Elena’s life.  (Remember how he took Stefan hours away in his junk box car so Stefan could gather vervain for Elena?)

We noticed that in The Fury, Matt finally gets a tad infuriated about doing favors for Elena.  Once Matt realizes Elena is truly back, his first question is “So what do you want?” Ouch.  That isn’t a very nice way to welcome back your first love and childhood friend!

It can’t be easy to be around a girl you’re in love with without getting a little bitter though, and Matt might have had a right to feel kind of used.  Do you think Matt’s reaction was justified or just mean?

The Many Faces of Elena

Nina Dobrev as Elena. Photo by Andrew Eccles / The CW ©2009

We’ve discussed once before how book Elena and television Elena are quite different.  Now that we think about it though, each of the novels in L.J. Smith’s TVD series seem to show us a new Elena: Queen Bee Elena (The Awakening), Devoted Girlfriend Elena (The Struggle), Vampy Elena (The Fury), and, now since we’re onto The Dark Reunion, Spirit Elena.

No matter what Elena has become, she always maintains some key qualities . . . her ability to be a loyal friend, her determination to get what she wants, and, of course, her beauty.

Elena is obviously one of our absolute favorite characters in every book, but is there a “face of Elena” in any particular TVD book that you like reading about the most?

For more on Elena’s transformation, start with The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening.

Interview with Nina Dobrev

Degrassi fans will love this Nina Dobrev interview. Our favorite part is the question about dating vampires…

We can appreciate how appealing the invisibility superpower must sound to a popular actress like Nina…but we're glad she doesn't hide from fans on Twitter. Do you follow Nina? Check out @ninadobrev HERE.

Quoting the “Children of the Damned”

SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't watched “Children of the Damned” yet and you consider quotes spoilers, save this blog for later.

TVD is always quotable, but “Children of Damned” left us with a ridiculous amount of memorable dialogue. Here are some of our favorites. But which TVD quotes do you love the most?

You know, I really like this whole ménage a threesome team thing. It’s got a bit of a kink to it.” – Damon

Damon believes that everything he’s done, every move that he’s made, he’s done for love. It’s twisted, but kind of sad.” -Elena

These creatures are of the darkest parts of hell. They have the ability to control your mind, seduce your spirit. They are deadly. They must be destroyed. Those who stand with them, those who bring shame to their families will be destroyed as well.” – Guiseppe Salvatore

Welcome to ‘Unpleasantville’

Nina Dobrev as Elena, Paul Wesley as Stefan. Quantrell Colbert / The CW © 2009

Tonight at 8/7c on the CW, The Vampire Diaries returns with a new vampire in town, and a whole new style. Is it just us, or can you picture Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley starring in Grease on Broadway? They've taken us back to the Civil War era, and now they're rocking the 1950s. Tell us, do you like the show's retro moments, or do you prefer modern TVD style?
