Fell’s Church

“But why?” said Bonnie. “Why would anything evil just happen to pick here?  Haven’t we been through enough?”

In the fourth TVD book, Dark Reunion, the question of why there’s SO much trouble in Fell’s Church (a.k.a. Mystic Falls) is finally addressed.  Stefan explains to Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt that evil is attracted to Fell’s Church due to “unquiet spirits.” And, of course, nobody in town attracts evilness quite like Elena and friends.

Bonnie, Meredith, and Matt could leave Fell’s Church or – for once – let someone else deal with all the bad vamps and restless spirits. They could. But they never do. They can’t seem to quit all the drama – or each other. Do you think they’re sort of addicted to the supernatural? I mean, how boring would their lives be if they moved to some town full of mortal vegetarians?

Looking for Damon’s Good Side

It’s no secret that Damon is The Vampire Diaries’ most notorious evil doing vamp.  Murderer.  Player.  Back stabber.  Liar.  There are SO many reasons we should hate him.  Secretly though … we sometimes want him anyways.

Damon’s good looks are certainly one reason that it can be hard to hate him … but his looks alone aren’t enough to make us like this bad boy.  His dark humor and ability to not take things too seriously are also attractive qualities, especially in comparison to Stefan’s often more serious moods.

Help us add to the list!  Are there things about Damon that make it hard for YOU to hate him?

There goes the neighborhood…

“When I decided to stay here and get to know you, it was so that I could do things like this: bring my girlfriend flowers, take her out on a date, and … try to be normal.” – Stefan, “There Goes the Neighborhood”

If the line above rings any bells, then you probably know that “normal” isn’t the most accurate word to describe what goes down in the TVD ep “There Goes the Neighborhood.” (The ep re-airs tonight at 8/7c on the CW, and it’s worth re-watching.) But what fun would it be if things were normal in Mystic Falls?

We’ll be watching tonight’s episode . . . wishing we had the chance to go on a not-so-normal date with Stefan. But if it were up to you, would you want dinner and a movie with Stefan, or a crazy night complete with Damon drama and a vamp bite or two?

Damon and Elena

“It was useless to deny it; her body responded to his.”The Struggle

We’ve looked at this quote before, but it stops us in our tracks every time.  The quote sounds like it’s describing the attraction between Stefan and Elena.  Think again!

In L.J. Smith’s second novel, The Struggle, there is an undeniable attraction that begins between Elena and Damon (unfortunately for him, it’s also unfulfilled).  We know Elena is head over heels for Stefan, but even Elena herself admits that Damon’s almost scary good looks have quite an effect on her.

Elena tells herself that it wasn’t just Damon’s “powers” that were affecting her here. So do you think this attraction between Elena and Damon is something Stefan should worry about?

Vampires: Damned or Deliverable?

Ian Somerhalder as Damon, Paul Wesley as Stefan / Quantrell Colbert/The CW ©2009

“I should never have tried to change my nature, he thought.  Damon had it right after all.”—Stefan, The Fury

Stefan tries to suppress his evil vampire instincts, but we know that he struggles with following his own “rules” at times.  The quote above is pretty negative for Stefan. He’s usually more confident that good can conquer evil and he is definitely NOT one to side with Damon on things.

It was sucking almost all the life out of Tyler and his friends that brought Stefan to this low point. So, maybe it’s just Stefan’s guilty conscious talking.  Either way, we think his quote touches on an important issue.

Vampires are supposed to be innately evil . . . but do you think it’s possible for one to “change” their nature completely?  Or do you side with Damon and think that vampires are all “damned” no matter what?

For more on Stefan’s dark side, read The Vampire Diaries: The Fury by L.J. Smith.
