Stefan tries to suppress his evil vampire instincts, but we know that he struggles with following his own “rules” at times. The quote above is pretty negative for Stefan. He’s usually more confident that good can conquer evil and he is definitely NOT one to side with Damon on things.
It was sucking almost all the life out of Tyler and his friends that brought Stefan to this low point. So, maybe it’s just Stefan’s guilty conscious talking. Either way, we think his quote touches on an important issue.
Vampires are supposed to be innately evil . . . but do you think it’s possible for one to “change” their nature completely? Or do you side with Damon and think that vampires are all “damned” no matter what?

In the TV show i think that Stefan’s character suits him well- to be feeding on animal blood. I havent read the books so i dont know what they are really about what the story really is in detail but i think from the TV show point of view, although they havent made Stefan show it yet, Stefan suit to feed on animal blood which makes him and Damons rivalary more strong. I also think that Elana stays with Stefan because he is against his true nature by drinking animal blood. I am not siding with any of the Salvatore brothers on this one because depending on their personality, it suits them for who they are Damon is a self serving phycopath and that suits his nature as a true vampire who feeds on humans and Stefan is more of a protective caring person who has some regard for the human race and that suits his choice but remember i am going off what the TV has conveyed of the series. I am yet to read the books! Overall i love the vampire diaries and espeacially the Salvatore brothers… especially Stefan

I believe that they all have a good and bad side. They are bad by nature but can be good, it just takes a lot of effort and dedication to be good. It is ultimately a choice. It is the easy way out to be the true evil creature a vampire is and we see the struggle with Stefan to continue being this good natured person, epecially when he is tempted. I definitely like the good-natured Stefan but it is interesting to see this other side of him he is trying so hard to push away. We also see with Damon, his true evil nature most of the season, but as he grows as a character, we start to see him caring and showing the nicer side of himself. Either way, it is a fantastic show and I cannot wait for the second season. This is probably the first show that I’ve enjoyed way more than the books, although the books are good, the show is amazing!!

Vampires don’t have to be evil. They don’t have to kill to survive. All they have to do is seduce, feed, and compell/influence. All they need to do is be SEXY (Like Damon Salvatore.)!!!

I think over the time they lose the feeling to appreciate human life and thats the problem.They become boerd and feel more powerful as the humans

Stefan still has to lern to control him self with human blood in his system

Well, I think it matters what kind of person you were before. Damon was hated and not even thought about when it comes to family. And for those who watched the TV series, he was mad at his love , but mostly his brother for the fact that, she chose “him” to. I can understand that pain and betrayl he feels and has to deal with EVERYDAY. feeding among human might give him a “revenge” feeling like “You hated me and I bet even wanted to kill me, but now I get to watch YOU die” sort of feeling, and plus lets him forget about all that weight poundind down on him and just think BLOOD. With Stefen, he had a “good” life really. He had Katherine more on HIS side of love and his brother (where I know deep inside him he missed and loved
is back. and when he become a Vampire, years later he finds another love, who REALLY LOVES HIM. And Elena can really change a person. Stefen is living for her. Not feeding (or feeding among animals) for HER. his life is HER. And if feeding on humans could make her runaway or possibly kill her he would never do it! If Stefen never met Elena then I bet he would have started feeding on humans or staked himself by now. He has changed for Elena. It really is possible for a Vampire to change in my opinion. Damon just chose not to. And if a pperson (yes i said person) like Stefen is taking walk downstars when and if he gets staked then wont we all? (I really dont beleive that we will all though)

I think that it doesn’t matter if vampires are good or evil they can be both.Though most vampires are evil there is still good vampires too so they are both good and evil.But I like the vampires who drink blood they are so sexy (like Damon Salvatore).
